Scott uses S through XL on both models, with sizing driven by reach and effective top tube. The Spark RC and Scale RC share very close reach numbers in each size, so your Scott XC size carries over between the two. The Spark sits with a touch more stack thanks to the suspension fork's longer axle-to-crown, which slightly raises the front end versus the Scale's shorter race fork. Riders between sizes who race technical courses should size down on the Spark for quicker handling; pure climbers and marathon racers can size up on the Scale for a longer, more stretched pedaling position.
Choose the Spark RC if your races have rocky descents, root webs, or anything resembling enduro-light terrain - modern XC tracks reward the extra travel. Choose the Scale RC if you race smoother marathon courses, chase every gram, and value the directness of a hardtail under power.
Scott Spark RC - 120mm of travel takes the edge off long, rough race days
