Two of the most-searched gravel bikes from two of the biggest American brands, with completely different ideas about rear compliance. The Specialized Diverge uses Future Shock 2.0 up front - 20 mm of damped suspension in the head tube. The Cannondale Topstone Carbon uses Kingpin - a flex pivot at the seat tube giving up to 30 mm of rear travel. They are the two best examples of suspension-meets-gravel on the market and they barely overlap on which end of the bike they damp.

At 54, the Topstone Medium (582/380) and Diverge 54 (586/380) are nearly identical on reach with the Topstone running slightly lower in stack - close enough that crossing brands at the same nominal size works for most riders. At the small end, the Topstone XS (528/355) is the smallest gravel frame either brand offers - shorter and lower than any Diverge, which helps riders under 5'2". At the top, the Topstone XL (640/402) reaches further than the Diverge 61 (648/405) at a similar stack.
These bikes solve different problems. The Diverge damps the front end and lets the rear do its own thing. The Topstone Carbon does the opposite - rigid front, suspended rear. For chunky gravel and washboard descents where the front end takes more hits, the Diverge is the right tool. For long all-day rides and seated climbing where saddle comfort matters most, the Topstone Carbon is genuinely innovative and noticeably more comfortable than a rigid bike. Most riders will be happy on either; the question is which end of the bike you want to suspend.
Tie - Future Shock is more effective on rough fronts, Kingpin is more effective for seated climbing comfort. Pick the end of the bike you most want suspended.
Specialized Diverge - lighter top builds, wider tires, and the broader range of sizes give it a small edge for racing and fast adventure riding
