What BikeSize checked
BikeRegister is the UK-focused option in BikeSize's theft-registration set. Riders can register a bike, add identifying details, and use marking products that make the bike easier to connect to its record.
The service is different from Bike Index and Project 529 because geography is the main filter. If you ride or buy bikes in the UK, local police recognition and a UK public-check workflow may matter more than a North American recovery network.
BikeSize has no referral relationship with BikeRegister. Treat the profile as an option to compare when UK location and physical marking are more important than North American city, campus, or shop integrations.
What works well
- UK-focused registration and marking is useful for riders, buyers, and local police checks.
- Free registration is available before buying an optional marking kit.
- Physical marking products can add a visible deterrent and another recovery clue.
What to double-check
- It is less relevant for riders outside the UK than Bike Index or Project 529.
- Optional marking kits cost money and should be checked against current pricing.
- Registration helps identification but does not replace locks, police reports, or insurance.
How to use BikeRegister
- 1
Create the 529 Garage record with the serial number, photos, and bike details.
- 2
Add a 529 Shield code if you use the optional physical decal.
- 3
Start a missing-bike alert and file a police report if the bike is stolen.
- 4
Keep the record current after a sale, recovery, or major change to the bike.
Recovery data note
BikeRegister publishes police and registration messaging, but BikeSize did not find a current official recovery-rate figure suitable for comparison.
Compare another free registry
Bike Index has a separate database and recovery workflow. Some riders use both, especially when local organizations prefer one service.

These jobs solve different problems. A lock slows theft, a registry helps identify the bike, and insurance may cover the financial loss.
Use a lock that matches the bike, location, and time it will be unattended.
