Which is better outside North America?

For the UK, BikeRegister is the clearer fit. For other countries, check which registry has local police, shop, or community adoption.

Are the physical identifiers required?

No. Both services can start with registration. Physical identifiers are optional products.

Can I use Project 529 in the UK?

You can check the current service availability, but BikeRegister is usually more relevant for UK police and buyer checks.

Which should I use for a campus bike?

Use whichever registry the campus security or local police department promotes. If no one promotes one, register with the strongest local option and keep good photos.
