What BikeSize checked
Sundays' online quote accepts bikes valued from $300 to $21,500, including eligible e-bikes and cargo bikes. The company says it may cover a higher-value bike through a specialized phone quote. Its public examples start at $8 per month, and policies can be paid monthly or annually. Deductible choices are $150, $250, or $350. Theft, accidental damage, malicious damage, domestic transit, and attached or declared upgrades are central parts of the policy.
The small extras are useful. A valid bicycle claim can include up to $1,000 for emergency out-of-pocket medical costs, although that benefit is not available in New York. Sundays also lists up to $75 for transport after a covered incident. Rental-bike reimbursement up to $300 applies in defined race, event, or travel situations when the matching optional coverage is selected. Racing and event cover is optional, as is worldwide protection for trips of up to 90 days.
There is one availability wrinkle worth checking before you compare prices. Sundays' current about page says its bicycle and e-bike insurance is offered in all states, while its separate availability page still says 26 states. Both pages were live when this profile was reviewed. Treat the quote flow and your ZIP code as the final answer rather than assuming the product is available everywhere.
Claims can be filed online at any time. Theft, attempted theft, and malicious-damage claims need a police report, and the company may request receipts, photos, serial numbers, repair estimates, and proof that the lock rules were followed. The U.S. policy is underwritten by U.S. Specialty Insurance Company through Tokio Marine HCC. Sundays has a public ambassador program, but BikeSize has no approved referral URL, so this page uses a direct nofollow link.
Coverage matrix
A check means the provider offers the coverage somewhere in its current U.S. product. It may still require an option, usage selection, or state approval.
| Coverage item | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Theft | May be optional. Security and proof requirements apply. | |
| Theft at home | Garage, residence, and lock conditions vary by policy. | |
| Theft in transit | Carrier custody and vehicle-rack rules need a close read. | |
| Crash damage | Sudden accidental damage, subject to deductible and exclusions. | |
| Third-party liability | Where available, this may be an optional add-on. | |
| Medical payments | Limits and state availability apply; this is not health insurance. | |
| Race coverage | Usually requires competitive use or a racing option. | |
| Training rides | Check the selected usage class and territory. | |
| E-bikes | Only eligible legal classes and configurations are covered. | |
| Cargo bikes | Confirm the model and use; paid delivery is often excluded. | |
| Worldwide territory | May require an optional extension or competitive-use policy. | |
| Roadside assistance | Benefit limits and qualifying breakdown rules apply. | |
| Rental reimbursement | Distance, event, timing, and dollar limits may apply. |
How much does it cost?
$96-$372 examples is the public range or starting point BikeSize could verify. Your bike value, ZIP code, deductible, usage, and optional coverage set the real premium. Published examples are useful for orientation, not budgeting to the dollar.
Sundays says the number of bikes affects price and that a multi-bike discount is available. Optional worldwide, racing, and lifetime-new-for-old coverage can increase the premium.
What works well
- Published pricing starts at $8 per month, with monthly and annual payment choices.
- Deductible options of $150, $250, or $350 let riders trade premium against out-of-pocket cost.
- The policy lists e-bikes, cargo bikes, domestic transit, emergency medical payments, and transport reimbursement.
- Optional racing, worldwide, rental-bike, and lifetime-new-for-old features cover several common gaps.
What to double-check
- The provider's current pages conflict on whether coverage is available in all states or only 26, so ZIP-code eligibility needs confirmation.
- Third-party liability coverage is not listed on the U.S. public coverage pages.
- Theft claims depend on detailed lock requirements, including lock construction, value, and age.
- Worldwide, racing, rental-bike, and lifetime-new-for-old protections are optional rather than automatic.
What is excluded
- Normal wear, routine maintenance, worn drivetrains, stretched chains, tires, and brake pads.
- Theft when the bicycle or e-bike does not meet the approved-lock and security conditions.
- Non-emergency medical treatment such as physiotherapy under the included medical benefit.
- Race losses unless racing and event coverage has been selected.
- International losses outside the base territory unless optional worldwide coverage has been added.
File online 24/7, or contact Sundays by phone or email. Theft, attempted theft, and malicious-damage claims require a police report. Have the policy number and bicycle serial number ready. Sundays may request purchase receipts, photos, repair estimates, incident-area photos, and evidence that the security conditions were met. Settlement can be a repair, replacement, or payment based on the policy's age and new-for-old rules.
Sundays publishes reviews and testimonials on its own site. BikeSize did not treat provider-controlled reviews as an independent claims score.
