The rule
District of Columbia permits cyclists to ride two abreast on the roadway. 18 DCMR § 1201.6 permits riding two abreast where it does not impede traffic. See 18 DCMR § 1201.6 (Riding bicycles two abreast).
Group rides in District of Columbia can ride two abreast on most roads. Keep an eye on traffic behind — if a faster vehicle can't safely pass, single up.
