Rhode Island permits cyclists to ride two abreast on the roadway. RIGL § 31-19-7 permits riding no more than two abreast except on paths or parts of roadways set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles. Riders may not impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic. See RIGL § 31-19-7 (Riding on roadways and bicycle paths).
Group rides in Rhode Island can ride two abreast on most roads. Keep an eye on traffic behind — if a faster vehicle can't safely pass, single up.
