The rule
Washington permits cyclists to ride two abreast on the roadway. RCW 46.61.770 governs lane position for bicycles in Washington. Two-abreast riding is permitted; persons riding bicycles upon a roadway at less than the normal speed of traffic shall ride as near to the right side of the right-hand lane as is safe, with carve-outs for substandard-width lanes, hazards, and preparation for left turns. See RCW 46.61.770 (Riding on roadways and bicycle paths).
