Texas permits cyclists to ride two abreast on the roadway. Tex. Transp. Code § 551.103(c) permits persons operating bicycles on a roadway to ride two abreast. Riders riding two abreast on a laned roadway shall ride in a single lane and may not impede the normal and reasonable flow of traffic; on other roadways riders shall ride single file when traffic conditions warrant. See Tex. Transp. Code § 551.103 (Operation on roadway).
Group rides in Texas can ride two abreast on most roads. Keep an eye on traffic behind — if a faster vehicle can't safely pass, single up.
